pig finally caught
I had been hunting this little pig and his friends for some time... so I finally got one of them... it is in a small creek area down from a spillway from a small lake/pond. Normally I base whether I keep them or not on the situation... normally so close to spawn starting I let them go... but because these bass are actually in an area where they are considered somewhat invasive due to a rare fish in the same creek, I decided to keep him and will fry him up in a few weeks.
16" long, around 2.5 lbs (he was moving so much it was tough to get an accurate read) Caught him on a basic 6'6" rod, spinning reel, Strike King watermelon flake 5" worm and 10lb PowerPro braid |

No, read closer, that is a "little pig" he has been after. Nice haul for a creek bass on top of that.

yes, it is a "little pig"... considering the creek was only 2-3 feet deep and maybe 6 feet at the widest, I consider this a nice haul for the location.. still waiting on the big pigs (6+ pounds)

oh... by pig I mean that him and his buddies chomped down several live worms, a Strike King worm (same as what I caught him on) in the past few ays... so I had to keep on working it until I picked up at least one one. In the next few days I may go for his buddies and release them in the pond/lake above the spillway

Nice lil pig screwball. Hopefully in about 6 weeks I'll be landing one just like it.

Near Crestview? I am in Fairhope Alabama. One of the lakes that I hit is north of where you are on the florida alabama border. Hope cold weather moderates a bit so I can go out there.

yes just south of Crestview... I like going to Karick, Hurricane and Bear Lake... and the bass fishing at Hurricane Lake has been pretty good for some years now.
