Default New toy for my Triton.

I have been wanting one of these things for a long time. I had a smaller one on my last boat. I promised myself that when I bought another one I would get the 1198, and finally I am the proud owner of one.

Her brains.....

Her legs........(now this is a beefy Ram Mount LOL).

Nice unit, now you just need the 360 transducer.

Right now I am not that interested in getting the 360 transducer. Maybe in a few years if they get the footprint of the transducer down to a reasonable size and they aren't having any issues with it I might reconsider.

I think the Ram Mount retails for like $120 or somewhere in that neighborhood.

Congrats, Kory. Christmas definitely came early this year. Now I have someone I can compare notes with.

Yabba, Dabba, Dooooooooooooooooo. Them big 'birds are nice, but thank goodness they are not YELLOW! Anyway - I have that RAM mount, with the 3" arm, and if I had to do it over again - I would have purchased the RAM swing arm mount. I have to really crank that SOB tight, I mean TIGHT, to keep it from moving. I had the swing arm on a previous boat to hold a measly 5" GPS unit - those swing arms DO NOT move and you don't have to break a sweat tightening it up either. If you are fishing in chop make sure that puppy is cranked down, I've had mine drop a couple inches after going over a wake, not even airborne LOL. I still may get a swing arm, I actually had to stop and secure mine during a 15 mile run up the Potomac last spring in 2 footers. When you mount it (I'm sure you probalby know this) put decent sized washers under the glass when you bolt it down - and I highly recomment bolts, lock washers or nylock nuts and a little locktite (blue) won't hurt either, rather than screws. Enjoy the unit, it's a chunk of change for sure, but well worth it over the time you'll spend using it.

I really thought hard about the swing arm mount, but I went with this Ram Mount because it has a little more adjustment. I am going to through bolt the Ram Mount rather than use screws, and big washers are a must. I am anxious to get her set up and working.

That is awesome Kory! Side imaging is a great tool to have, and can really come in handy at times. Congrats on the new toy!

Did you mount the transducer on the jackplate or hull?

Sorry I am so late getting around to replying to your question, I haven't had much time to be on here lately.

I mounted the transducer to the jackplate. I will try and get some pictures of it next chance I get.
