Default August 16th Double Report

Headed out tonight with lots of hope on blue bird skies and falling tide. It was apparent as we motored along that the 20 or so boats where enjoying the cool weather and that fishing was poor at best. No bait moving and no fish hitting the edges that are being well defined by the falling tide. So we take a side creek and work some backwaters in it. Move again to some fish that are crashing bait. Move again to some shadow edges. Move again to a great spot just before Golden Hour and I am informed we have to leave. So I catch a quick LGMouth on a popper and we head past Capt Dave just before Golden Hour.

Capt Mike

Capt Mike and his crew motored by us and said, "early night tonight, we're headed in." It had been tough fishing again. It was just before golden hour. As they passed Rueben called out, "you're leaving too early, they're gonna turn on soon." And he was correct. With the other crew still in sight, the first fish came on a Pop R. Then another, and another and another. He was right, they did turn on. Here are three fish. One from daylight, one from twilight, one from no light. My fourth married couple charter this summer and another fishing trip saved by golden hour.

Too bad about the other boat. Nice fish.
