Default The biggest fish I ever caught.....

Eleven lbs. Caught from the bank on a 50 acre lake at about 7:30 in the morning Monday. Third cast of the day on a watermelon seed brush hog. In my mind, I'm still reeling....

I have had an unbelievably lucky and blessed 18 months or so - which is about how long I've been fishing. All due to a private lake of about 50 acres which was stocked about 12 years ago and gets little to no pressure. You can fish all day and catch a few dinks and nothing else. And you can also have a chance at a fish of a lifetime. The owner isnt sure how many big fish are in it but there are obviously plenty.

In May 2009, I caught a ten pounder on a buzz bait - see my avatar pic. Two short weeks ago, I caught a 9pounder on a spinner bait. And now this one Monday. An hour after I caught mine from the bank, my dad caught the largest of his life from the boat - 8 lbs.

Three of us fished for a couple hours Sunday and caught 7 bass, the biggest of which was about a pound and a half and the rest smaller - and a brim. Monday morning, I hooked up with the pig and then an hour later my dad got his and then the rest of Monday and Tuesday we pretty much got shut out, catching maybe 7 fish (all about a pound) between the four of us.

I keep reminding myself not to get thinking this is just how it is......!

Man, that's a toad!

I would kill for an 11 pounder!

I hope you remembered that 11 pound fish don't grow to 15 pounds on a wall

That fish was weighed and put back in the lake. I've not kept any of the big fish I've caught. I am ready to have a replica made though and I hope they can do something nice and not fake looking from pics and measurements.

That's what it is all about right there!! Now when the cold weather sets in and the fishing gets tough, you'll know there are a couple sows swimming in the pond that will most likely be even bigger next spring!! You'll reel that fish in again many times over!! lol!

First off... Congrats on the toad! That's a great fish.
Second... When you get ready to have your replica made, send as many pictures as you can along with the measurements. Anything like that will sure help them get it right.
