I would start at the mouths of the major points leading into the larger coves and tributaries on the body of water you are fishing. Start shallow and work deeper till you find em and you may even have to go to the inside of the coves depending on water temp. The cooler the water gets the more they will move in to a point. ALWAYS remember to follow your baitfish and I assure you they will lead you to the bass.

I like using a crankbait in the colors of the local baitfish and then after determining what they want and how I refine the tactic. Usually end up with a certain color and depth running cranbait or a jig and when it gets real good a spinnerbait in the loudest chartruese you can find is excellant.

I like to target fallen tree tops on lakes in the fall, before they let the water down to winter pool here in ohio,

I either target the tree tops with a spinnerbait, or tiny torpedo or pop R,
Then work it over with a tube jig, to worm.
Overcast days around here in the fall with firetiger crankbaits, or just hunt jumping shad , or hit the backs of feeder streams, creeks, or rivers that dump in the lake, many times the bass will herd the shad in those creeks and a small 1/4 ounce spinner single colorado blade works well for me...esp on the ohio river
*lizards take note* lol
