My brother and i went pond fishing in his friends private farm pond and we caught a ton of fish. I did not have a scale but I believe that the first big fish that I caught was between 9 and 10 lbs. and the second was a good 7 or 8 pounds, I can say that this was my best day fishing ever
First Bass: Second Bass: Let me know what you guys think and again I am guessing on the weight, my brother thought the first one was over 10 but just dont know, maybe you guys have an opinion, and I have a few other photos if it would help. |

B-lunk, I'm no good at estimating someone else can help with that... But next time bring a measuring tape, like for sewing or something, and measure length and girth. Then just plug it into the weight calculator on this forum... it will give you a good estimate... Oh by the way THOSE FISH ARE HUGE - CONGRATS!!!

Hard to tell from those angles, though by the size of the heads, I'd say the second one is bigger then the first!! Either way they are both very good fish!! Congrats!

I would totally agree with you but the second one was a lot skinner than the first one, but it was longer, I believe that these fish were on the beds because I saw a ton of big fish beds, so maybe the longer fish had already gave up its eggs and everything, because it was noticably skinner/

In my opinion, both are between 7 and 9. I'm just going by the size of ur hand. But, it's a complete guess. An average fish (pre-spawn) would have to be around between 15-17" girth, and 26-28" length, roughly. IMO, unless u have SHAQ hands, 7-9 lbs is a reasonable estimate. Does it matter though...they're still great fish, i'd love to catch 'em. Good job.

i would completely agree with you, and I am a big guy, but by past experience with big fish and measuring them I would say the first fish was around 19-20 inches in girth, but the second one was around 16-17 in girth, That is what I thought around a 9 and a 7 or 8, but either way great day, and next time I will have a scale and tape with me.
