Default To bead or not to bead a horny toad

The test is complete and the results are in. The bead if used will save 50% of your horny toads. Now that is a good tip..

But as always there is a question of the right color bead. I have have been using a big green one with less hits. Changed to a small white one and got more hits. But I also hear a red small bead is the way to go..

What do you think?

Are you talking about like putting a bead in front of the hook? I say no, I don't see how that could get more bites/save more toads?

Well at first it made no sense to me either. But follow my logic here. The bead snugs up against the hook eye and when it runs into say a lilly pad stem it deflects and the toad does not slide down the hook. Also when a fish is hooked it slashes its head left and right sending the toad up the line and in most cases into the air ripped at the head. The bead prevents the forward movement oddly. And the toad stays on the hook. Of coarse you need to peg the bead.. I forgot to mention that..

Try it but let me know what color bead works best..

Ya, that makes sense! Especially when fishing hydrilla mats like a do, it will prevent a bit of hydrilla from getting caught on the line!

great idea mike!

To me it seems like it would deflect it.

How about a pointed bead from a craft store? Seems that would be even better!

I'm going to try it on my senko and other weightless texas rigged baits. I like the Idea of adding a bit of color to the head!
