Tuning a Zara Spook
A lot of y'all have seen this, but some of the new guys may not have. rrw's thread reminded me:
Before I throw a Zara Spook I always make a modification: The way the hooks come attached from the factory are not real free-swinging, which means a fish can get better leverage and throw the hook easier. I always add a split ring. Unscrew the hook hardware, remove the hook, add a split ring and reattach the hook. It doesn't effect the way the bait performs, but now the fish doesn't have near as much leverage since the hook is free swinging. Simple modification but it can make the difference between landing or losing that big fish.
