pliers

ok guys, i was at dicks sporting goods today and i was looking at pliers because i recently lost mine. i cant decide between two pairs. one is by field and stream. the other is rapala. they are both 8 inches. they both come with a kind of sheath which is what i like. the big difference is that the field and stream pliers looks like standard pliers and the rapala pliers have a bent piece of metal between the handles like a spring would do but at the tip of the pliers, its bent. im not sure what this bent part is for but i dont think it would be useful. i need some insight to what the tip is for. the price isnt much of a difference. i just like the rapala spring but dont understand the tip which is making me lean towards the field and stream pair of pliers. its 3 a.m., i apologize for any gramer,, and speelin arrors.

The tip on what they call "fisherman's" pliers is for opening split rings. I have a pair of needle nose pliers and a pair of split ring pliers since I find it harder to remove hooks with the split ring pliers.

I use these. They're great pliers, have a sheath, and replacable Tungsten alloy cuters, which cut braid and heavy lines great.

Wow, I never put that much thought into pliers... I just grab a pair of needlenose from the bargain bin at wally world...

I carry a pair I work with, but I agree I 'd get one at hardware store for three to six bucks. remember once you lay them out and take a run they are frequently tossed over board. take the money you save and feed the baitmonkey with various rootbeer cranks rofl

Mine are the 7.5 model with keeper so they will be lost overboard. They have hook sharpners built in and cut braid no problem.

I just use everyday pliers myself. Think mine are the cheapo Tool Shop brand

Let me add that I won the pliers and two Simms fishing shirts at a silent auction for 80 bucks. I paid for it like I stole it at the end of the auction.. Which in fact really did do.
