Default Spook

it looks like a hotdog to me and two sets of treble hooks. walk the dog techique is used on retrieving, a darting side to side action it appears to do. there is a smaller version called the puppy, same action but smaller and somewhat slimmer. they work. try basspro catalog or cabelas, or use the internet search engine to help, they generally works when u need to know something. good fishin to ya.

Zara Spook:

I watched Nitro911 catch 2 bass on one cast with this bait-one on the front hook and one on the rear hook. And yes, we DO have a picture to prove it

You can get them a lot of places-even WalMart carries them. One suggestion if you get one: Take the hooks off, add a split ring, and them put the hooks back on. Cuts down on the leverage a fish can get to throw the hook.

no, take the hooks off,add a split ring, throw the hooks away and put new, sharper ones on. reb, try putting a feather treble on the back hook,
i think it helps, it also keeps the top from popping up occasionally

If you replace the hooks. Cut them off, don't mess with the screws in hangers. Put snap rings on.... But if you do take screws out, fill holes with super glue before you put them back.

I noticed one on the Heddon Lure site with a feather treb on it. Haven't seen them in the stores.

i use this style of lure made by mann's bait company. Very good lure, and at a very good price, my favorite color is grey ghost fished along rip rap and weedbeds. Good Fishing!

Of course if you follow the posts in spring and all summer,
I started out stating I was a Pop-R man, having most of my best top
water catches on the popR, but then this spring and summer my top
water lure of choice turned to the Zara Spook.

In the past I had fair amount of luck with the zara puppy, and had fished the big spook now and then, but this summer the water was real clear, and
for whatever reason I got lots of strikes on the spook, and my backup
was the buzzbait on windier days.
I'd recommend it to anyone and practise your rod tip movement, try it for a day with an experience spook fisherman, it will save you tons of learning time..

This year was Strictly a Buzz Bait year for me here where I live. Threw Zara spooks, puppys, devils horse, pop-r's and many other top water baits. Rarely got a bite on any of them, but they slammed the buzzbait all year long, from may to the middle of september. Then no topwater bite at all after that. Not even on the rapala floating minnow in #7, #9, or #11 sizes. Go figure. Water wasn't any dirtier and was a foot or two clearer in july and august. Guess that's why they call it "fishing" and not "catching".
