Default Crucial M/h C/b rod

This is an awesome rod for any type of rattle traps but not
for cranking in the 10' and beyond range. What I found with
this rod is 14lbs test is better than ten.
I have tried the Curado E5 and it sucks on this ROD. I am looking
for another C/B rod for this reel, looking mainly to glass rods -
any suggestions?

As far as the crucial goes I am using a TDA 153Hst in 6.3:1. Does
anyone use a gear ration that high nowadays? I noticed an issues
of Bassmaster that KVD used a 7.0:1 reel with a series 5, so I said
why not six? I just don't have the feel with this rod as I did with the
glass rod or even the crucial Med 7' rod. I am trying Norman DLN's and
the DT10's. If you got any clues to how to get more sensitivity with this rod let me know.

Thanks in advance.
The E5 is a great reel but if just doesn't feel at home on the crucial
rods.

I do all my deep crankin' with a Falcon 7'0"Lowrider crankin' stick coupled with a Daiwa TDA 150A 5.1-1 gear ratio, not the 6.3-1 higher retrieve ratio. I've even worked rattle traps with the slower gear ratio reel with positive results. I feel that the slower gear ratio lets the wobble be more effective at the slower retrieve.

Look into the Lamiglas Rods, Skeet Reese or regular models. Tackle Tour has a review of the Reese model. I think you will be impressed.

Have you had a chance to hold it in person? If so, how does it feel? I've held the Skeet Reese model and it felt pretty good in hand but that really doesn't say much. I love using crankbaits, but do not have a crankbait specific rod. I have heard nothing but great things for the lamiglas crankbait rods, especially the Skeet Reese model. You would think that I as a Lamiglas fan, and as one who lives but 2 hours away from their HQ (and Loomis' too) that I'd have a score of their rods.

It would be a blind purchase for me. Never felt the rod.

What line size do you use for dt10's and lures that run deeper?

I usually use 10# for most cranking duties, but I rarely throw a DT10. Barring cover, 10# should be more than sufficient for most cranking duty. As one who fishes primarily from the shore, my DT10s see very little action.
