Default Vibra Trap

IMO Rat-L-Traps are awesome baits. When the new Vibra-Traps came out though, it was kind of sticker shock. ($13!) That's really not a lot for a lure, but it is for a R-Trap and for me. I've owned one Lucky Craft lure (which I lost to a cheap snap swivel (I know, I know...))

Anyone tried these yet? If so, they worth it? If they catch like the originals, I'd say they probably are.

I would say no. Probably Hell no,rather than the standard no. The statement of designed for aggressive fish days translates in that they don't usually work. Lmao....

In order to catch fish effectively with a trap, you have to hit something on the retreive in order to provoke a strike. With that design, the damned thing anit going to run correctly to bounce off from weeds, or what have you and still be able to snap the weeds off as it gets fouled up.I like the concept though.A rattle trap should look like a minnow, not running in a straight line. Retreiving a trap with a long rod will move the bait as not to be running in a straight line, remember to make it knock against something as well on the retreive.

The only time I do not worry about hitting objects on the retreive is during the spring time.I do not fish it slow, I seem to catch more fish at a faster steady retreive, which goes against thinking, the colder the water, the slower I should fish. P N J

PNJ, the new Vibra Traps come in both agressive and subtle color schemes. (hence two links) If you didn't go check the other ones out.

You were right BB, I didn't see the other add. As much as I would like to agree, I still think the whole thing is a gimmick. Of course I'll be the first to admit I am wrong when the time comes.I can't beleive color has alot to do with the agressiveness of a fish.A rattle trap sends an ungodly amount of vibrations out as it is fished. They are about as subtle as throwing a brick through a store front window, but I could be wrong. I'm not one who places a lot of importance on color either. I see no reason why this wouldn't be a good lure, as are countless brands and styles of crankbaits. However, I wouldn't pay $13 for it unless it was proven to be a highly superior lure, which is extremely improbable.

JB, Where have you been hiding ? If you got a chrome trap to spare, try taking a red sharpie marker and using the side of the felt tip to get a wider path and color over the chrome. I started doing this when I couldn't find a red chrome colored Bill Lewis trap, no one carried them in stock. If you don't like it, rubbing alcohol will remove the red marker, but you had better try it in the springtime first. I honestly do believe that color has a lot to do with it.

Over the summer, my dad and I both fished the same pond with Bandit 100's. He was using bluegill colored and I was using crawfish orange. He outfished me 3 to 1. And the Bandit bluegill color was our top producer this summer.
