Anybody fish for steelys?.........
Havent been on the site for the last month or so since I've been busy fishing. But I caught my first steelhead the other night, and all I can say is WOW!!!. If you ever have the chance to fish for em take it. Ive never experienced such a fight in my entire life. I think it was ~27in. which is a medium size one and took a good ten minutes to land. I cannot explain how I felt when my drag went zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz........ I found another love. Anybody ever fish for steelhead?

Steelhead are one of my favorites.
Those Lake Erie steelhead are great. They don't get as big as the Michigan ones, but you sure can catch a lot more. What river did you get that one out of? And what kind of tackle were you using? My dad and I fished Elk Creek 3 years ago, as well as the Ashtabula R. 2 and 3 years ago. We didn't get to go last fall. I'll tell you, they were fun on spinning gear, but a blast on a fly rod! BB

One of my long term goals is to learn fly fishing and head to Guadulupe river and trout fish...But that would be for Rainbow and Brooke
Thats a nice fish though! Did you try and photoshop a beard on yourself?

Congrats. I haven't had many opportunities to target them in my area. I have heard of some bass anglers who, after catching one, left bassin'. That's a tradgedy!

Nice! I've started going after them with some friends over here in Lake Ontario from a kayak. FUN!

Yep, I love steelhead. Not a better fighting fish out there IMHO. This brute weighed 21 pounds. Caught a few years ago at the light house pier in Michigan City on Lake Michigan.

My hooks do not discriminate based on species. Now, I've never caught a steelhead, but I'm sure it would be great fun!
