I think you need to be 16, there are tons of places around there that you can get one. Walmart for one, waterfront tackle, gas stations. Dont remember how much, but I do know we have one of the cheapest licenses in the country cause they had been talking about raising them.

Well that means I'll need one two. when we went steelhead fishing in pennsylvania last winter, my dad paid like 25 dollars for a one day non-resident liscence. Then you have to display your liscences so he had to but a $4 plastic holder for it. we pay less than that for our annual liscences here. I don't think ours are too bad, but for us, an annual MI liscence is about 35 dollars without salmon and trout, 40 with them.

bb and kingfish, i think the liscense is like 26 a piece. and yes we will take the time for some gill fishing if you want. you can get them right there at the bait store in goose pond (just remembered that). and it is a very nice, well stocked store at that, now that i remember. it is owned by the waterfront grocery. and they have just about everything you need. almost like bps, lmao. not too big, but the baitmonkey has made sure there is enough to emptey our wallets, hahahaha.

So, how many people are coming total? We're still planning on bringing plastic plates and plastic wear, so we need to know how much to get. We'll most likely get it up here before we leave.

Wow, just a week or so away. I think I'm leaving wendesday evening, driving to florence, nightfishing pickwick on thursday morn through the evening, camping near wilson lake that night, driving over goosepond friday by way of H'ville and 431, so I'll be arriving at the campground around 3. This is just a gut feeling of what I wanna do, I gotta get some smallmouth action while I'm in that area.

Also took the boat out and its all coming together just in time for the get together. I will be able to take 1 boater. It actually rides better with 2 in it, when I'm fishing solo I have to put some of my weights up under the bow.

bama, so you don't need any plastic wear or anything? I will bring the rod, we're just having some reel trouble. I was going to use my cheap daiwa, but since I did some construction on my Cabela's rod, I may want to use that. I found a Quantum Accurist PT on eBay that I can just barely afford, but the Quantum Reel Deal ends the 31st. You think if I mailed it a day late, they'd take it?

I wouldn't mind something a bit closer to home, although georgia or the carolina's isn't closer. Maybe kentucky or tennessee?

BB, let's get this year's deal done first, THEN talk about next year...lol
I'm off that Friday also, so I plan on leaving here sometime midmorning. Hoping to get there maybe 3 or 4 pm.
Damn, I need to make a list of stuff to bring. I keep thinking of stuff, then forgetting.
So, drinks, card table w/ chairs, $10 to give to bama (or his wife ), a cooler, lunch for Saturday, camping stuff, money for license, the boat...and every piece of fishing gear I own. Which is probably pretty pitiful compared to most guys'. Yeah, it all basically fits in one medium-sized tacklebox.

Bama, I haven't rounded up any firewood yet, but I still see some scattered around from the tornado that hasn't been cleaned up yet. Should I gather up a couple armloads, or would it be worth it?

This is gonna be good, y'all, whether or not we catch any fish.

That sounds like a good idea.

I really can't wait to get down there and try out my flippin' stik. I think I'm just gonna pick up a Abu Garcia Black or Silver Max from wally world or Ganer Mtn. (cause our wally world sucks)

Bama, Let me know what we need to do, in order to come see you guys Friday night as far as getting in the park? We are launching at the Comer Bridge Friday morning and Staying at the Best Value Inn at 35 and 72 (Scottsboro). If there is something we need to bring for cooking out we will need to know what time and what to bring.

Default Fishing reports

http://www.wmi.org/bassfish/reports/alabama/

Looks like they're killin' 'em, guys. I see a lot of reports that say big 10"-12" worms are the ticket, along with lizards and jigs. They say topwater is good early, then switch to the bottom-bumping stuff once the sun gets up.

Bama, tell me if I'm wrong, but that's basically what most of the reports say.

I can't wait...got the big motor (if you can consider 40 hp big) to fire up and purr like a kitten yesterday, so all I have to do is hose the boat down a little and get some grease in the trailer bearings. Then I'll be singing "Oh, Suzanna" on my way to Alabama.

Or you can sing this;

1. Away from Mississippi's vale,
With my ol' hat there for a sail,
I crossed upon a cotton bale
To Rose of Alabamy.

chorus:
Oh brown Rosie,
Rose of Alabamy!
A sweet tobacco posey
Is my Rose of Alabamy.

2. I landed on the far sand bank,
I sat upon the hollow plank,
And there I made the banjo twank
For Rose of Alabamy.

chorus

3. Oh, after d'rectly bye and bye,
The moon rose white as Rosie's eye;
Then like a young coon out so sly
Stole Rose of Alabamy.

chorus

4. I said "Sit down just where you please."
Upon my lap she took her ease.
"It's good to go upon the knees,"
Said Rose of Alabamy.

chorus

5. The river rose; the cricket sang,
The lightnin' bug did flash his wang;
Then like a rope my arms I flang,
'Round Rose of Alabamy.

chorus

6. We hugged how long I cannot tell.
My Rosie seemed to like it well.
My banjo in the river fell.
Oh, Rose of Alabamy.

chorus

7. Like alligator after prey,
I jump in, but it float away,
And all the while it seem to say,
"Oh, Rose of Alabamy."

chorus

8. Now every night come rain or shower,
I hunt that banjo for an hour;
And see my sweet tobacco flower,
Oh, Rose of Alabamy.

chorus

9. Oh fare thee well, you belles of Spain,
And fare thee well to Liza Jane!
Your charms will all be put to shame,
By Rose of Alabamy.
