Damn! Hornswaggled myself!
Woke up this morning to cloudless skies and a light southern breeze. Forecast calling for sunshine and 85. Left 15 minutes early so I could drive by the lake... the water's like an aquarium... like glass... I think even saw Hoffa down there...
Sounds like the perfect day to cut out of work early and do some fishin'! When I get to work, my boss walks up to my desk... he's got a box in his hands... "Hey Mike, they delivered a package for you... looks like some fishing stuff... by the way, we've got a meeting today at 4 with blahblahblahblah.... " Sheer excitement to sheer disappointment in a matter of minutes as I looked down at the box of lures I bought from BigBasser144, and realized that no excuse I could come up with for cutting out early today was going to work... because "the man" already knew the reason, and it was sitting in my hands... Well, then again... there's always night fishing! |

Hahaha, but I think you're throat is feeling a little scratchy today... You might not be able to make it in tomorrow.
Good luck with those lures! BB

Do they have a flight of stairs you could practice a controlled fall with? "Arrgghhh, I think I hurt my back." There is always tomorrow my friend. Besides, I was told by a credible source that the bass are not hitting anything today in Michigan and your better off working to pay for more bait monkey fodder. Hope you feel better now.

So, does having the fishing stuff sent to work keep the wife from finding out? I have been contemplating it.

Absolutely - in fact, if you grab a couple pre-pay visa gift cards with your next major grocery / wal-mart / sam's club trip, and have your goodies shipped to work, you can keep the whole thing untraceable!

XIntel,
I always have things delivered to the office for that very reason. It works for me, most of the time. About 3 months ago I had a tacklewarehouse package delivered while I was out for a couple of days. One of my co-workers who lives close to me did what he thought was the right thing. He brought the package to the house. Too bad I wasn't home but my wife was.

I know off the subject, but one time me and Zook did some exchanging. I sent him my items in a Tackle Warehouse box. He called me later after he got it and said thanks for the chewing he initially got from his woman for ordering more baits. Until he could tell her it was a bait bartering box. But he kindly resent me the box and I caught the same flack from my wife before I could tell her what it was. I am learning to practice that it is easier to ask for forgiveness than permission in some circumstances.

I'm lucky, my wife thinks the BassinBandit bought every rod, reel and lure we got.
The other day while watching the race, I was organizing our soft plastics ( about 200 bags ), Debi said you don't catch that many fish, "but honey we got'em on sale. Yea I'm in trouble. LOL

Nice, I am glad I am not the only one in that boat...so to speak. I have been telling my wife for 6 years that I wanted a boat. She always gave me sound reasons to hold off (we needed to buy a house, we needed to have kids, we needed to replace the doors, windows, kitchen....) this year she went to spend two weeks with her mom in Florida and I told her I really wanted a boat. She told me to do what I thought was best but she made it clear she didn't like the idea. I told her about the boats I was looking at and even told her I was pre-approved for a loan. Well, I dropped her off at the airport at 6am and went to work for about two hours before I couldn't take it anymore. I drove to PA and picked up my SKeeter. She was ticked. I had never seen her so mad. She has not caught on to the baits yet but I know its coming. I will have to remember the prepaid visa thing. That's genius.

I'm trying that Bama. She'll go crappie fishing with me and the kids, but if it involves more than sitting in a lawn chair and watching a bobber float, she's not interested. I'm trying to convince her that it'd be so much more fun if we had a boat, but then I start getting those "you better shut up if you ever want dinner again" looks, haha!
