Default Ranger Boat goes airborne. Stay safe out there.

How would you have handled this? Gunned it or turned around?

Default Rough?

Yeah it's rough but taking the waves HEAD ON???? Rookie operator. Obviously hasn't dealt with big water, barge wakes, or white knuckle boat rides much. Been there done that & didn't like it but got back to the ramp. Where was he going?....out in the middle of Lake Superior or is he on a river???? KY Lake gets that rough & rougher with a north/south blow. Glad I'm finally in the land of mostly small round lakes and numerous canals.

Seems to me when it's that rough, it's time to go back to the dock...real slow.

I was out alone one time when the weather turned. I had headed north without issue, but when I tried to come back, it was pretty bad. A couple of times I took a big drink of water over the bow. I had slowed way down to be safe. Then lucky for me, a much larger boat went past me. I tucked in behind him and let him cut the big water. I was glad to get her on the trailer w/o incident and head for home.

If you gun it in those waves you'll probably be eating the next one. I've been out in water rough enough to scare me, about 8 miles from the nearest shore. It was enough to make me not want to do that again.

My kidneys would likely give out before the boat. Have to be a REAL big check at the end of the day.

Oh yes it does...something I discovered a month into owning my first boat. The only good thing about being soaked from waves is no one can tell you've peed your pants.

I was in pure heaven had bought a ranger 374 v 1985 couple of years prior to moving to Ky lake, was great on the ohio.First trip out at paris landing like to beat me to death came in told wife im buying a boat.Notice trim how high he is ,even rough as a cob my 17 1/2 fter will run bow down on top, took my 20 ft allison out for its first spin in 45 mph winds went out on plane after it kicked up a tad more came in off plane,it sank 4 barges that day.
3 to 5 fters bow down from 42-54 mph any more or less timing is out of whack, yes ive speared a few learning, bow down motor tilted down a tad, stay on top.
Biggest problem with like a ranger is getting up to that speed to get on top,do that in a bay then go hit the fan not near the splash or in the foot throttle movement quiver as you go over to keep front end down, you get down below that speed, man my back lol.

The ranger is a great boat for what it was designed for but the older hulls pound one plus he the person in the video didnt have a clue as to how to attack, and in a ranger when like that hard to get up on top due to the pounding.
Cross a cabin cruiser wake with any driver who does not know how and you can end up on the front deck, with a long time thing for Jumbo size Doans back pills.
