Default Rods for soilders - Rod build

Awhile back Joe and I were giving the opportunity to build rods for the Rod for soldiers program.A program started by Pat Helton of the Texas Rod Builders, giving custom rods to wounded vets returning home.
You can read more on Pat,and the cause here.
http://texasrodbuilders.com/rods_for_soldiers
Its a pretty humbling experience to help with,Im was amazed at how many builders from east, west, and even Japan have constantly submitted rods, and components for this.

So anyway, this was my rod..The blank was a St Croix SCIV If I remember right.Parts were sent to us for the build....A lot of rods for this are done in an American/army theme...I really just kept it simple for the most part...I did add a soldier holding a rifle under the tiger wrap if you look closely, and played with the JT Olive branch wrap.I also wanted to make it a micro rod instead of conventional. The hybrid grip happened sort by accident. It was gonna be all cork, but I uhhhh?...sort of jacked up the cork buttgrip for it
Besides it makes it more custom!lol
Thanks for looking.

That is a beautiful rod! I love the colors, love the Olive Branches, love the grips, you did a fantastic job! I bet Jerry and Pat were blown away. This is a really great cause and I feel honored to be a part of it. My rod will be ready next week. You've definitely built a rod worthy of the man that receives it.

That is one sweet rod. And if you didn't mention it, I bet no one here would have guessed you made a boo boo with the grip. It came out great anyway. Well done!

All I have to say is ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC, Waffle!

Wow, what a gift you have to be able to create a rod like that, and for such a good cause, too!

Well done, sir!
