Default Jig "how to fish" question

Hello all,
Just wondering if I am fishing this correctly or if there is a better way. I have been trying to catch one using a jig with a Paca chunk trailer. I have been fishing it kind of like I fish a texas rig....slowly hopping it back to the shore. I haven't caught one with it yet and just wanted some tips.

Details:
Jig is black and blue with pumpkin paca chunk.
I usually try and fish it near some type of cover.
I fish from the shore
Water is usually murky an or dark.
I usually fish in the evening.

Thanks in advance!

Try just dragging it along the bottom instead of hopping it, other than that, its like fishing any plastics. Sometimes you may have a fish pick it up and not feel the tick, so always watch your line, esp on the fall.

The big keey IMO about jigs is to keep in contact with the jig, slack line is usually why most folks miss hits. The fish will hit them, but also spit them out quickly, a fast solid hookset is not a option, it's mandatory. When I first started using jigs I thought I'd never catch a fish with it. Then finally got one, then 2 now hundreds. I also realized I was missing many bites, and even the few bites I would get I wasn't landing fish. As I said, QUICK, SOLID hooksets, and know exactly what your jig is doing. Even on the intial fall, many times that's when you'll get you hit, if you don't realize your jig didn't fall far enough to hit the bottom but the line stopped moving, then you're probably missing a bass who grabbed it on the way down.
