just throw it out and don't move it, is called dead sticking, effective when the plastic is on a slow decending motion, if nothing hits it after a few minutes, then move it, hop it, or jiggle it.

"Sometimes", should be a word used with all baits, there is not a bait, that "always" catches fish. If you want something that, "always" catches fish, then you are way too impatient, and are in the wrong sport. Thank you for your time,
Benjamin

Because that may be the only time they WILL bite it. Biggest smallmouth I ever caught came on a Tiki Stick I was deadsticking. You will be surprised the number you catch while it is sitting on the bottom.

I was surprised at the number of fish you can catch deadsticking when I first started using the technique 4 or five years ago. I am now a true believer.

hopping = let it hit bottom and take up slack and lift and pull it.repeat as needed.you can hop with big pulls or small pulls.see what the fish want.swimming is done with a ribbontail worm.you just reel the worm in and the tail swims and vibrates.vary the speed.bump it into things and pause then reel.dragging is letting it hit bottom and slowly dragging it along.
