Default How to catch a.....

Skink! Yep caught another one. Set up a bottle trap trying to catch another young one and I catch the mom!!! This one is huge. Took a while to get her to settle down and rest on my arm. Don't have any way to keep her so I let it go in the front yard.

Kept the small one I caught not long ago and I'm feeding it small crickets and grasshoppers. He/she/it grabs them and shakes it's head violently and then tries to stuff the cricket down it's mouth. Pretty aggressive lizards. Good thing they don't get any bigger or else you'd have to watch out for small kids and pets!!!

Good thing it does not think those hairs on your arm are tiny worms!

Neat. I've never seen one or any of its relatives.

I'd be interested in seeing how they do nose hooked and worked slowly over the milfoil beds or in the pads.

I have seen some huge ones back in Aiken. Especially since I worked outside for 2 months. Every now and then they are so big you catch a sight of a tail and think its a snake. They are pretty interesting. If they see you first or want to go in a certain direction they will stare at you and slowly creep forward until they can run by you.

Had a good time with one in the morning as he stared at me working and got the nerve to run by me. And they can be colorful! Cool creatures. Never tamed one though

Q: What do you use to catch a skink?
A: Skinkbait, of course!

For several days had a blue tail inbetween screen and window existing on spiders.
Im at a dividing line 5 lined eastern and western here.
The king however would be the brown tree anole lizard, small iguana, had two on a pine tree out front over 8 in long and eat tree frogs, also will take a swipe at a ballcap if comes close enough. They blend in so well very hard to see even if you know where on a tree they are located.

Crickets and grasshoppers work the best to catch them.

If you see them before they see you and sit very still they will walk right by you. Also if it's windy and you sway with the breeze they'll do the same. Of course my neighbors think I'm crazy when I'm outside.....

Bama we just love to make you laugh!! You need to let me know your last day in PA so we can plan to get you on the river. The snakeheads bite should be on!!!
