Default Information

I have been trying to find more information on jack plates. What are the primary reasons for installing a jack plate? What is the major difference between jack plates. I have heard of hydraulic jack plates, what are some of the benefits of installing a hydraulic jack plate. Thanks

Kenneth

hydroilc jack plates adjust to a set height on the fly -which is good-
but weigh nearly a 100 pounds-which is BAD-
a manual jack plate you can adjust by hand so that you can really dial in your set up-which is good -
manul plates weigh about 30 pounds-which is also good..

the purpose of a jackplate is to reduce water drag. by moving the moter up and out of the water.the less moter in the water the less drag the faster you go..
that being said if installing a jackplate a water gauge is a must have..with the moter at wot the water pressure must be 20psi or above-this depends on the moter-anything lower than 15psi things go sizzle pop very quickly..
