Default 1999 Charger Bass Boat

Hey folks, looking at at 1999 Charger Bass Boat model 495TF.
Is this price within reason?

i really don't know how well chargers hold their resale value compared to other brands so i don't know about the price. however, have you looked at this model in person? i don't know how this one is layed out but i looked at the 09's a while back and didn't like the layout. the front was way narrow, not nearly enough storage for the size of boat, and the livewells were at the rear of the back deck which could cost you some fish if they jump out of the livewell when you open the lid or drop the fish while trying to put them in the livewell. this is just my opinion and this boat you are looking at may be layed out all together different. they do make a pretty cool looking rig though.

what i am saying is that on the new chargers the livewells are at the back of the back deck. like right infront of the motor.

no, they aren't that far back. i will try to attach a link that shows a pic. to me they are too far back and much to close to the sides of the boat.

you will have to click on features and then click on livewells but it should show you what i am talking about

dbltap,
as i look back at my replies to this thread i think i made it sound like i was running down that boat. i am sorry if i made it sound like that and in no way am i saying that is a bad boat. i really like the looks of chargers but everyone has their own opinions on how they want their boat layed out and i was just talking about what i personally don't care for on their boats. i am not sure if the boat you are looking at is even layed out like this or not but if you like the boat then go for it. the price looks reasonable and as long as the motor checks out healthy then it would probably be a nice rig. sorry if i sounded rude, that was not my intent.

Chargers are virtually handbuilt boats of very high quality. The "droop snoot" is so that one has better forward vision when under power.
Some folks have reported spearing waves and experiencing a violent reaction with this design but careful driving is the key to success in any boat.
Drop in a BassBoatCentral.com and select "BBC Boards" then scroll down to the Charger forum for more info and opinions from owners. Also do a search in the General Bass Boat forum.
You'll need to register (free) and log in each time if you wish to do more than read but you can read without all that. Cookies will need to be enabled to register and log in each time.
There are forums for all the major brands of boats, motors, and other accessories and a wealth of info is available so well as advice from experts and users.
BBC is NOT competing with this site, BTW.
If the boat you looked at contains wood internally a VERY thorough inspection, especially of the transom and decking, is a must.

All chargers have wood in them. Always have as far as I know. I do know there ride is kinda like a champion. They where built to handle the rougher water and they will run but you really gotta juice the motors to get em to run wit the big dogs. They are well built moats. I was seriously gonna buy a 18ftr a ouple years ago but was a day late and dollar short as the story goes.

Looks like a nice boat and believe me if it floats and starts it is nice. However for a rig that is 10 or 11 years old that seems a bit high. Make sure to shop around and really do some leg work. Don't forget to try and barter with the seller or sellers. That does seam high to me though.
