Got me a growd one & tied this years PB!!
Got me a growd one today on a 6" SLUG-Go today at 6.27lbs (20" length, 16" girth)! Funny thing is, is when I was getting ready to leave, I took I saw a slug-go that I've had for 2 1/2 years, and thought "what the heck," and put it in my pocket. Looks like it was good call on my part!
When I first got to the lake, I was using a wacky worm, and on my FIRST CAST, I caught a little dink. Second cast, same thing, only smaller. I was starting to think that the first cast curse was gonna get me today. kept fishing with the WW and nothing. I put the spinning reel away, took out my bait caster, put on a silver dinger. Missed one on that, I think it may have been a bream nipping the tail though. Kept fishing with that, tried different ways fishing the senko, still nothing. I was fishing on the bridge though. I started walking the bank, but switch to the sluggo, and split the tail down about 2", it gives it a little more wiggle when you pause it. The whole time I was using a few feet under the surface. Thought I would try something different and use it on the top, with the nose hopping out, and making a little wake on the top. BINGO!! - that's what they wanted! She slurped it right off the top, (I thought it was little by the way it hit). I let 'im take it, and set the hook! She jumps up, and thrashes around, and jumps a few times, I let it take line and play her good. Than I pull it to the shore, and lip 'er! Unfortunately, we were fishing for supper, since we already had some bass in freezer, and only need one more to make a meal. So, reluctantly I filled a bucket with water and put it in there. I caught one more on the slug-go before we left. Got home, and measured it; 20" length, 16" girth. I put it in the weight calculator, and it came out 6.27lbs, tying with my PB of this year, 176 bass this year, and 7 over 5 pounds. ~~~~~~~~~~~ Sorry about the non-pic-atude, but, my camera is broke.

Congratulations, Boss, although I'm not sure a guy who catches a fish on his first cast needs any moral support. Your life is good enough!
You need to get a camera so we can see some Florida hawgs!

It can go the other way too.... one day last week, I was at Casterline pond during the lunch hour and had a blue/black silicone tail jig tied on - hooked a dink on my first cast, thinking now this is something. The rest of the time, NOTHIN, not even a bite!
