We are at the Sooner Run!!!

Britney and I came down to Muskogee tonight for the Elite event on Fort Gibson. My tourney partner is a Marshall and he and his wife had an extra bed in the hotel room so we decided to come on down so we can make takeoff in the morning. We have to cram a whole weekends worth of stuff into one day though because I have to be back at work Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. We are off to a good start though because earlier tonight we had trouble getting Lake to sleep so we drove around and cruised through all of the hotel parking lots looking at all of the pros rigs and taking some pictures (trying not to get so close that we alarmed anyone lol). Just down the hall from us is Alton Jones and Russ Lane so that is really cool too. Here in a few hours we are off to takeoff and then checking out some of the festivities. Then later in the day another one of my tourney partners is gonna be here with his boat and we are gonna run around Gibson for a while and watch some of the boys do their thing. I really like this wildcard of having the event moved at the last moment leaving everyone a max of one practice day. Sure the locals will have a slight advantage because they know the lake better but it's like that no matter how much practice time everyone gets. And no matter how well you know the lake, it's still a lake and they can change fast so even the locals will have to fly by the seat of their pants and on the water adjustments will be huge.

On a side note, I just had the funniest thing happen. I drank all the coffee in the room because I pulled an all nighter while everyone else slept. So I went down to the front desk to grab some more for the rest of the gang. The girl behind the front desk asked me if I was with "the fishing guys" and since she obviously didn't follow fishing it was easier to just say yes than to explain that I was just here to watch. Well she took it as I was one of the pros lol. She said that she didn't have anything for me to autograph which kinda sucked because how funny would that have been. But we had a nice conversation that was a little akward because I was talking to her like I was KVD talking with Mark Zona but it was still fun. After a little chit chat she wished me good luck today and thanked me and all the rest of the pros for the money that we brought to town via our tournament. So since I played along because I didn't want to make her feel dumb by correcting her assumptions (and it was nice to be thought so highly of) I got to be a pro for a few minutes lol.

I've given up on BassTrakk...it has yet to give a very accurate overview of what the anglers are catching.
