Default Shimano Curado E Questions

Well I went ahead and purchased a couple of the new Curado E series recently. They are all E7's. On the end of one of the spools, by the brake system, the spool is gold, while the other one is silver? Is there any difference in these, or is just a newere and older stock thing?

Also, I would like to tear these down and relube them as one feels smoother than the other, and I would also like to flush the bearings. I already have alot of experience disassembling BPS, Quantum, Pflueger, Abu Garcia, and Daiwa reels, but this is my first Shimano. When you open the braking sideplate the plate does not come completley off, so does this sideplate come off at all? Is there anything special to look for or to be careful about when I am disassembling and relubing them? Thanks,

Ryan

If you can take the others apart, you can do these. The brake cover is held on with an Eclip. That keeps it from falling off when changing settings.

Don't know about the curado but the citica's drag star is like spring loaded. Tough to get back on. Also the handle side plate is held in by another screw that must unscrewed from inside the frame where the spool sits.

Here's the schematic in PDF. Another reason that I like Shimano is that they have maintenance instructions, schematics, etc. on their website.
