Default Before work pond bassin.

I took my jon boat out for a few hours before work and decided to try the pond behind work. I did really well early last year on jerkbaits and this day was no different! I ended up with 21 bass and 1 big crappie. My biggest bass was a very healthy 4 1/2 pound fish on a 78 pointer.

Right before I had to leave for work I tried a new color of the new Luck E Strike jerkbait and caught my second biggest one of the day, a 3 pounder.

Wish the wind wasn't blowing so hard, tough to control a little 12' boat in 15 mph winds! Probably caused me to miss another 10 fish becase I was messing with the trolling motor.

2012 bass count-122

Thanks guys. My streak of warm weather has come to an end finally. Might not make it out of the 40's for several days now it looks like. I'm hoping the ponds don't freeze back up. As long as I have soft water I'll be catching fish. It's not that I'm a great fisherman or that my spots are really good, far from that for sure. I just get out a lot, especially when it's as nice as it had been. I fished for at least 30 minutes 5 out of 7 days last week. Even a blind dog finds some bones if he sniffs around long enough!

Those are beautiful bass and the color of the Pointer in the first picture is probably my favorite for jerkbaits. I have an Excaliber jerkbait in that color that out produces all my others. I like the looks of new Lucky Strike. Gotta get me one of those! I really understand your comments about boat control in a small jonboat. I also fish from a 12 footer and on windy days, half the time is spent on controling the boat! Kinda drives me nuts. Some days, I'll work with an anchor to allow me to work wind blown shorelines without constantly pulling myself back out from shore with the troller. But it's a pain either way if I want to work a long stretch of shoreline. Congrats on the great day out on the water.
