Default Monkey Attack

Guys, with the weather like it has been, I have been getting regular visits from our friend the bait monkey. Today a good friend and myself decided to take a short drive out of town to a tackle shop that we had heard good things about.

When we arrived at Mike's Pro Bass Gear we were warmly greeted by the owner Mike Neal. After a few minutes of talking and looking around it was obvious that Mike knows his tackle. There were well stocked shelves and pegboard of some of the best tackle the industry has to offer and the prices were very good also.

Mike had several of the Dobyns rods in shop, but when I asked about one that he did not have for sale, he went to the garage and got his own equipment out of his boat for us to checkout. Now when I say checkout, I do not mean look at, shake and bend, he took us to the pond behind his shop and let us cast and compare a couple of different rods. How's that for customer service?

I had a great time and picked up some new tackle at a great price. I was so impressed with Mike, his shop, prices and customer service that I asked him to join us here on the forum. He is a registered member (hooks2bset) and I strongly urge you to give him a shot if you are looking to make a rod, reel or tackle purchase in the near future. Mike has earned my future business, let him do the same for you.

Excellent! I've got a place like that...hour 1/4 one way, further away than BPS. I'd much rather deal with a true enthusiast than a big box employee. Plus there's some satisfaction (at least to me) in dealing with a chain of one, brick and morter entrepenuer(sp) that has figured out a way to compete by filling a need and offering knock your socks off customer service..............this is no way meant to diminsh BPS...TW...Cabelas or their employees, I'm just sayin

What are those craws you bought? Both brands look very nice and I can't resist buying craws.

Nice haul Tony! You got some quality baits there, I would love to shop at a place that had that selection! My local tackle stores could use some tips from Mike! Looking forward to seeing him around here.

Tavery5, my Green Monkey (envious little bugger) is upset.
But I'm not. Congratulations on a great find. ( the lures are nice too ) Not only do I not have anything that even resembles such a place. I am POSITIVE the baitshop owners within 2 hr. drive of me have never seen or heard of such a place either!

It is really great to have a local place like this where someone actually knows what they are talking about and will go above and beyond to keep a customer happy and satisfied. I have several shops like this about 1-2 hrs. away, and I don't mind making the drive because when I do make the drive I am dealing with a great experiecne.

Both the baits are very nice, the Sasuteki craw has a body that looks like a tube but it is solid. Both of these baits should hold up very well if used with a twistlock type hook.

They've got some interesting craw/creature baits. I met the owner a couple weeks ago at Richmond. I threw the Texas-Rig Jig as a trailer last year. I really like it. Didn't like the Bully Grass Devil. The Craw D'oeuvre might be an addition to my tackle bag this year.

Ive been wanting to try some power team plastics, and jackal plastics.

Not to hi jack this thread but has anyone tried these from power team lures? The action on them is pretty crazy wacky rigged.
