First on a jig and pig!
Took the day off today to get some fishing in, so far I've caught a couple bass and a good size crappie.
Found a good jiggin spot and decided to give it a shot. Parked it for about an hour and caught my first bass on a jig! I'd guess somewhere around 2 lbs If anyone has any pointers on what to look for when picking jogging spots I'd love to hear it. |

Congrats! This is one lure I have yet to land a bass. I have with a jig and plastic other than a pig trailer, but not a jig-n-pig.

congrats on your first jig fish. The term jig and pig was spawned when all jig trailers were pork rinds. Many still call it a jig and pig even when using plastic trailers. My favorite trailer is a baby paca craw from net bait. The claws have a back and forth swimming action that seems to work better than most trailers. The body is hollow like a tube bait and you can insert a 7 mm glass rattle. I use a jig and craw just about anywhere. They are great around rocks, brush and stumps. You can swim them over a weedbed and then let them fall off the edge. You can crawl them around any structure that might hold fish. The more you use them, the more confident you will be.

Heyyy, congrats on the first jig bass! And that is my favorite color for jigs. Now that you've broken the ice, your going to find it gets easier and easier catching bass on jigs. I defiantely second the baby peca craw that pro reel mentioned. It's a great trailor. I never thought to add rattles to the peca craw. Thats a great tip pro reel. Thanks C:

I still believe in Jig and Pig as pork trailers. In the winter when the water gets real cold, plastic trailers stiffen up and lose action. Pork trailers dont. So in my little bubble Jig-n-Pig is a cold weather tactic with pork trailers... any other time i use paca chunks....

I caught my first few fish on a jig just this summer. I was fishing with my dad and uncle in little blowup U-Boats. It was on a Booyah Bitsy Bug jig (I think) with a Yum Might Bug 3.5 inches in watermelon red. I caught 3 but had several other bites that either got off or just did not hook them. But one was a pretty good one about three pounds.
