Default Minnesota bassin'

I didn't see much in the likes of a MN bass thread going, so I thought I would make one. Hopefully once bass season opens here, we can get some activity going. I will do my best to get some reports up.

Nice! I will definitely be on the water! Where are you going to be fishing?

At least 7-8 different lakes in Ottertail county.

I hear you guys have had a cold winter so hopefully the water is a little cooler this year. Last year the fish were almost all post spawn by the time I arrived.

I live in Southeast MN, but we have a place up on a lake in Hubbard County, so I'll be up there fishing for a full week starting on bass opener. The last report we had from up in that area was that there was still quite a bit of snow. I think that was 7-10 days ago, so I'm not sure how much of it has melted by now. I'm guessing ice out up there will be the last week in April as opposed to the record-breaking early ice out dates experienced last year (early to mid-April).

P.S. - You might find this link useful if you're interested in keeping tabs of ice out in MN.

That's unfortunate for the guys who want to get out for some early season panfish, but I have to say I'm happy to hear that.

The forecast for the town closest to our place up there is for highs between 50 and 64 for the next couple of weeks, so maybe ice out will be a little sooner than I first thought. Guess only time will tell!
