Default Weekend Report (w/ pics)

We took some good friends with us up to the lake this past weekend and enjoyed a great weekend of fishing with them. They will only get to fish one other time this year, so they were hoping to just catch some fish and weren't really concerned about finding the big ones. It all worked out perfectly because we caught a ton of fish (for us anyway) -- 109 in 5 outings in the boat and 119 total (we also caught a few from the dock) -- with a few decent ones mixed in! The biggest ones were a 3lb 4oz LM and a 3lb 0oz SM, along with another dozen in the 2-3 pound range. They were very pleased with all the great action.

Before I get to the pictures, I have to share a little story about the Zoomie, a lure that Mac has shared with us in the past. My fishing partner on Saturday morning, Al, caught the first fish of the morning, a small bass on some sort of worm he was using. In the next hour and 15 minutes, while I'm not sure he even had a bite, I boated 12 bass using my zoomie. After about the 3rd time I offered to rig him up with a zoomie, he finally accepted. A couple minutes later he hauled in a 2lb 1oz Smallie and he was now hooked on the zoomie! It was only thing he used the rest of the weekend. After we got back and he told his 3 boys what had happened, they all wanted to be rigged up like that also, so I obliged. We then proceeded to catch 109 of our 119 fish using the zoomie (I caught a few using a wacky-rigged 5" senko on a dropshot). I gave them a bunch of the hooks and worms to make their own zoomies, and now they are all fired up to use it next month when they do their only other fishing for the year.

And now on to the pics... (btw, all the fish were released unharmed like always)

Al - 2lb 1oz Smallie; Me - 2lb 3oz LM

Lee - 2lb 0oz LM & 2lb 3oz LM; Adam - 2lb 1oz SM; Me - 2lb 7oz LM

Ryan - 2lb 5oz LM; Me - 2lb 10oz SM; Al - 2lb 1oz LM

2lb 5oz LM that I caught from our dock at noon on Sunday

Adam with the biggest fish of the weekend - 3lb 4oz LM

Me with the biggest Smallie of the weekend - 3lb 0oz - not sure who/what did the damage to its mouth & eye, but it wasn't me. . .

It was just a little bit calm on Sunday morning. This is a shot taken while standing on our dock. We are in a small "no wake zone" channel.

This is a shot of only the reflection on the water.

The loon chicks on the lake have now hatched. . .

It stinks that it will be two weekends now before we go back, but we will be there for 12 days total over 3 consecutive weekends at that point, including a 5-day trip with my dad, so it will be worth the wait!

You could sell those pics to be made into picture puzzles and fish more with the profits.
Beautiful lake pics and nice fish
