try a jerkbait, with a jerk, pause (anywhere from 5 seconds to 30) and jerk again, or try a soft plastic like a fluke..
If that won't work try a rattletrap

this is what makes bass fishing so diffacult imo. trout can be finicky but fairly easily caught. bass are much more of a thinking mans sport you have to get crafty and figure out what it takes to get them to bite, and where they are..

trout fishing is done in streams-mostly- the fish are easy to find -ya can see them most of the time- bass are in deeper water much more struture related.

what was the wheather like? Was it sunny or cloudy? What was the surface of the water like, calm or light ripple? Do a lot of other people fish this lake? From what you've said so far, I'm guessing the water was calm with no clouds and a lot of people fish the lake.......or a combination of the 3.

Here is a tip to try:
Throw your bait at least 5 feet past the fish, they may spook, btu might not. If they do spook, then wait until they come back (be patient, this may take awhile), work your bait slowly past them. Do this until you get results, switching baits. Jigs, or plastic craws work best for this technique.
This technique (sight fishing), has won countless tournaments, and will be very useful, if you perfect it, by the time the fish are are spawning.

no its not pressured at all..... were just about the only two people that fish it..... it was cloudy at daybreak w/ the wind blowing, then after the sun came up the wind died down a little bit and the clouds cleared up for a little while....

you know, this may sound crazy, but it works.
Put on a simple white/red bobber. have a crawler on a single bait holder hook about 3 feet back. use a worm blower to make it float. cast it WAY past your target and let it sit, reel very slowly, i mean like 10 minutes to reel one cast in.
Basically if you can see them, they can see you. cruising bass generally dont bite. you have to find a way to cast further, and thus them not being able to see you.. its not easy, but it can be done.

The senko sounded like crap too the first time someone took it out of their tackle box. You think the pros use the same tactics that we all know about? sure, some of em, but they all have their little secrets.
who would have thought shaky head jigging would have worked.
do with the information what you wish
