I love my Costas. I wouldn't get the 580 lenses though. I lost my previous pair and they had the 400 lenses. I spent the extra $ and went with the 580's and I really can't see the difference( especially for the price between the two)

Jools- I've got a seriously bad habit of crushing glasses so I started to get some cheaper ones. They worked ok, but the better quality ones will serve you a whole bunch better. Also, some of the less expensive ones will quickly start to lose their polarization from sunscreen and, believe it or not, hot temperatures from being left in a car. Now, I force myself to put glasses in a case and they last a lot longer. Good luck, man. You only got two eyes and whatever you spend, your sight is worth it!

ok, had enough of this. when i used to not have to wear glasses (yea, old age. hahaha, not funny), i would always get the safety glasses from work. they are very comfy, uv safe and also....SAFTY GLASSES. and they were free. you can't go wrong with them. smithand wesson brand were my favorite. so go find some of them and save yourself some $$$$$. sorry to get angry, but some of you are spending way too much money on some things guys. come on....you don't have to spend alot of dough on some of this stuff.

I highly doubt they were polarzied though. Makes all the difference when it comes to seeing down there.

I'd guess sunglasses are the last thing you should skimp on.

Sum'agun, Bama! I've had to use safety sun glasses for years in the field and never knew I could get them with polarized lenses. I looked up the S&W brand like you said and there they were! I never even thought to check. Thanks, pal! I know how ridiculous that sounds considering we're just talking about safety glasses but, seriously, well done!

Before I bought my new glasses (which have magnetically attachable polarized sunglasses, I use a cheap $15 pair from a local tackle shop. They worked fine for me. what's the difference (besides color) between one polarized lens and another?! They both help remove the glare off the water so you can see under the water better.

I believe some polarized lenses are built with polarization integrated into the building process whereas with other polarized lenses, the polarization is applied after construction. The latter glasses seem to wear easier. As in most fishing, you get what you pay for.

BB, the best way to see how "good" the polarization is, take two pair that are polarized and turn one pair perpendicular to the other pair, you'll see black and not be able to see through them. Now take a cheap pair and try the same thing. Chances are you'll be able to see right through them. That is also another way to test when people say they have polarized lenses.

Also, look at a cell phone screen with them on and it will look funny

The Main difference is the cheap sunglasses ( Like the old Strike King Bill Dance models) have a polarized film on the surface and breaks down quickly. The higher end Glass lens glasses have the polarization incorporated to the lens, the glass itself is polarized. Those don't breakdown, or so slowly you'll either loose them, break them or scratch them up so bad you'll need a new pair anyway before it breaksdown. B.T.

Hey, Joolz,

I got my new Habers and they are sweet. They are glass and seem strong as hell, heavy too, but they work so nice. I'd reccommend glass as of right now. They seem durbale, sturdy, and look great!

buzz, how much did you pay for those? the cheapest i saw were 52 bucks. now i wear perscription glasses now. and they cost me alot of money. only get 1 pair ayear. and i go to wally world and get the polorized clip ons (10 bucks) cause i have to wear them at work. not to get you upset little buddy, but i ain't about to spend 52 dollars on a set of shades, wear them, get them scratched up. and have to get another pair. heck, if i spent that much on a pair of shades, i would be scared to wear them outa fear of getting them crushed or scratched, or lost. but i really do understand that your eyes are the most important thing to lose. but that is alot of money these days. i can replace the ones i got 3 times ( which i usually do) and still not pay that much for shades.

Yeah, they're worth it so far though! I tested them out in the creek last night and can easily see 5' down, as this is as deep as this creek runs. I assume they'll go even further in a lake situation.

15 dollar field and streams...Work just fine for me, and I don't gotta worry about 'em.....If you got the cash, go head and get somethin nicer, but I've never really been a real big sunglasses guy...

Yes it does. Same with my iPod. When I forst got my glasses, I thought something was wrong with my iPod. It looke dlike when you take a magnet to an old computer monitor. It scared me, and when I showed it to someone they couldn't see it and they though I was crazy. o_O
