Default Cork handles

Does anyone know how to properly clean cork handles? I have a couple that are starting to show some wear and tear and would like to clean them up a bit. This is also my first post (haha if you couldnt tell) and look forward to talking with you guys. Thanks

Default Refurbish Cork

It is pretty easy. Take some fine grit sand paper and clean the handles. You can order a refurbish solution that you paint on with a brush from Janns Netcraft or other tackle building website.

All you need for them to look as new is hand soap and an old toothbrush, rub and rinse, once clean and dry you can coat them with cork sealant.

Right on, Raul!
I usually use a little powdered cleanser, wetted, for the bleaching effect, and scrub with one of those little veggie brushes with the handle on top.
A thorough rinse, and I'm ready to slime 'em up again with sweat 'n Kick 'n Bass.

Welcome aboard. I never clean mine. I think what the handles accumulate over the years of use add character to them. I like looking in someone's boat and seeing a well-used set of sticks.

I never clean mine as either. I like the worn look. The only reason I got rid of my very first spinning rod was because two interior guides broke.

Well, on some wet and/or cold day, or when your mitts are sweating profusely, and the rod and reel go sailing...SLIPPERY WHEN WET!...Don't come snifflin' here for sympathy.
Body oils, scents, etc., accumulate on cork and become like STP when wet.
More than one poor sod has had a $$$ rig yanked out of his hand, never to be seem (exept by some bass, LHAO, that is.)

Clean 'em. You'll be the better for it.

To each his own. I've been fishing hard for 35 years and that's never happened to me or even come close.

If you wash them, let them sit for a week in a dry area, before applying cork sealer, also, after washing them you may find that you need to sand them anyway.
