Well, since I asked so much from you guys on what to do for my first bass fishing tournament out on Shenango lake, I thought I should tell you how it went. First of all, it was a 7am shotgun start. As a non-boater, I was paired up with a boat. Unfortunately for me (I thought), I was paired up with a new member to the bass club (this was both of ours first time on the lake). The water was cold, about 43 degrees at 7am, and the air temperature wasn't much better. The lake's rules state the bass must be atleast 15 inches to keep, and a limit of 3 is the max. However, my club warned us all that 1 or 2 fish would win the tournament as most the bass in the 5,500 acre lake were under 15 inches. All day long, nothing was biting. I didn't matter what I threw at them, I couldn't get a bite to save my life. My boater didn't help out the situation much, he kept me over a cast length away from any structure I wanted to fish. Finally, as he's jigging a tube through a channel, I caught my only fish of the day. A 16inch 2lbs. 5oz largemouth. I caught him on a white spinnerbait I bumped into his log. that 2lb. 5oz. largemouth was good enough to earn me second place in my first tournament, as well as $75 for lunker of the day. Not a bad day on the water.

Next week, it's going to be on a lake I actually have fished before. And fished successfully... just not in April.

FANTASTIC!! and not to mention the self satisfaction of beating the guy that doesnt know how to treat his partner correctly. I cant count how many times as a non boater I wanted to kick the chit out of the boater due to his selfishness. Now being a boater if my partner is not all ready in the front with me and he is beating me or catching more fish anyway I turn the front of the boat over to him. Just makes good sense plus you'll feel better letting a person who is doing well possibly do better.
