I have been trying to do a walk the dog action with some of my softbaits and lures, but I can't seem to get it. :'( :'( All of the lure packaging says to "give it a slack line twitch. ??? What does this mean? Can someone explain this to me?

Lonestar, it is not too difficult, just takes a little practice. Â*I find it works best with a topwater bait like a Zara Spook. Â*I cast the lure out, then point the rod tip at the water and give it a twitch. Â*The lure will move forward and then turn either right or left. Â*Twitch it again and it will turn the opposite direction. Â*Twitch it again and it turns back the other way, and so on. Â*When I twitch it I turn the reel handle a couple of times and move the rod tip forward to take up the slack and get ready for the next twitch. Â*It just takes a little practice to get the rhythm down, but is is a great way to fish topwaters like a Spook.
This is one of the applications where I prefer a 5-6 pistol grip rod-the shorter rod length makes it easier to control IMO. |

LONESTAR,
There is a oriental recipe book out called "1,000 ways to wok your dog" that should explain it. JackL |

Reb explained it pretty well. I just want to add that after each twitch, leave a little slack in the line. It is the slack that allows the lure to make its zigs and zags. |
