Re: Line Maintanence?
If I'm thinking right, it is basically making sure your line is in good condition (fraying, strength, etc.).
The last thing you want is to hook into a huge hog and the line snap the first jumps he makes. Especially if it is something that basic line maintenance could have prevented. |

That is it-making sure the line is in good shape-cutting off line that is frayed and replacing it on a regular basis if it is mono. One other thing I do (when I remember to) is to spray the line with Reel Magic-it helps to eliminate memory and will help protect it from UV rays.

Re: Line Maintanence?
They pretty much covered it. I can't tell you how many folks I've seen just keep the line on till it breaks and then just retie without checking it. Mono is harder than the Superlines to determine if they need changing, so I will usually just cut off the last 10 feet or so as often as I see fit. If I get hung up, and put a lot of stress on it, I retie. If I'm fishing rocks or anything that will nick the line I check it 2-3 times as often, If you fail to maintain the line, you might as well be fishing with spider webs if a hawg grabs a hold of it. Also since I set the hook very hard, when do you think the line will break on the hookset of course. Better to retie too soon, than to lose a nice fish, which is what we all are after.
