Remember bf02 when i posted something one time about there not being any big fish in my pond and you said that there can be some pretty big bass in a 20 year old farm pond? Well you were right!. i was fishing tonight and i saw a bass right at my feet. I was using this weedles lizard. I jiged it in front of his face and BOOM!!!!!!! He nailed it. When i got him in he was about 19"-20" long and weighed about 5LBS!!

so you're saying it was 5 pounds cause it looked to be so, huh, sounds like a 3.5 pounder to me. Don't worry, there are bigger fish in that farm pond, keep fishing and you will find.

its ok, I've caught 30 and 40 pounders before. don't worry bout it, a 3.5 pounder is a good sized fish, don't cry. let it motivate you to keep searching for that 5 pounder, or better yet 10 pounder, or what I'm always searching for, that 22 pound world record that I'm gonna pull outta rodman one of these days. World record has a minimum $1 MILLION payout, and a new boat, I'd just settle for the boat..............but don't tell the sponsors that when they're ready to write my checks!

Don't let these guys bother you Devil. I will say this though, I caught a 20 incher one time that only weighed 4 pounds. I swore up and down that he was 5+ pounds until my buddy pulled out his scale. I still didn't believe it until we tested the scale and it was dead on accurate.

22 pounds isn't a world record. Maybe a state record. 22lb. 4oz. is the current world record. |

Ok, all you Florida guys....We know you guys don't need any skill to catch fish down there cause there are so many of them and everything, but up hear it's more than casting and reeling...You have to evaluate the conditions, look for key areas and put a pattern together... ;D...I'm just messin with you guys.
But, I will say, besides, FL, TX, and CA, a 5 lb bass is a good one...Espeically here in Indiana : ![]() Catch em up Brian |

You must have the same scale I have. It's never right. I've caught a couple of 11 and 12 pounders but my scale said they were only 1 and 2 pounds. I think the first digit on my scale is out or something. I should probably get it checked out.

I just caught another big one bout 30 minutes ago. it was about the same size as the "5 pounder" i caught. i put it on the scale and it said it was 3 pounds 1 oz. Yes i have a berkley scale. i dont really trust it anymore and i dont like putting them on it. So i guess the bass i caught last night was a 3lbs 8oz bass. Oh well, its still a GREAT bass to me! Nick, i wish you could have saw both of them. They were HUGE!!

The berkley scales are pretty close to accurate. I have one, its usually 1-2 oz off from a stationary digital scale. I have noticed if it's the first fish weighed after a 2-3 day inactivity period Ill get 2-3 different weights. These are still only +/- 4 oz. in either direction. Good enough for me. Theres a little more than casting and reeling to catch big bass here. 8)

well, i have been in north carolina the past few days. i have been pursuing girls like i have bass for a few years now rob ;D i get a good catch once in awhile to, mostly only last a few days tho. anyways. i know there are big fish in that pond, just keep tryin. what i like to do to test out my scale is get a 10lb barbell weight, tie alittle peice of rope thru the hole and hook the scale to it, if it says it is close to 10 lbs, then im ok. i wouldnt be surprised if there is a 8+ bass in there. ya, 5 lbs is regular down here, and despite what some may think, down here a big bass is not easy to come by. its alot more then chunkin and reelin in. i know you were kidding TT, but just so others know. keep tryin NJ. im sure that bass will come.
