Hook Size and Utility Specifics
Going through my plastics bag before this season and starting to fine tune and label things so as to save precious minutes during tournies. Just wondering what size and type of hooks you use on your Carolina Rigs.
Baits I'll be using specific to this question are: 6" Zoom and Strike King lizards 6" and 4" senkos. Worm hook? or EWG hook? What about for drop shotting a 4 in. chomper worm? Offset hook 1/0 hook, live bait hook, or octopus hook? How about your 3-4" tubes? I use EWG but do you prefer 2/0, 3/0 or 4/0 Thanks for your helping me decide my fine tuning. |

Re: Hook Size and Utility Specifics
IM, for the lizards and senko-type baits I use a 3/0 of 4/0 worm hook. For a drop shot I use a size 1 dropshot hook(I think ;D) and for tubes I use a 3/0 or 4/0 EWG hook.
I also use an EWG hook for thicker baits like a Bamboo Stick and a 5/0 EWG hook for a thick bait like a Zoom Horny Toad. |

Re: Hook Size and Utility Specifics
For dropshotting, i have tried the 4 inch senko with an octopus hook and used a bakudan drop shot weight.

Re: Hook Size and Utility Specifics
I prefer a 2/0 or 3/0 offset widegap hook from Owner for the Lizards. Gamakatsu also make a Superline hook, that is also thicker gauge wire. I don't know the exact weight, but probably similiar to the 3/0 or 4/0 on standard hooks, since there are heavier. No real great experience with drop shotting yet, so I'm of no help there. Tubes I like a 3/0 or 4/0, just because the tubes are thicker in diameter normally.

Re: Hook Size and Utility Specifics
I'm not into C-rigging or dropshotting, but for the thin-walled tubes that I use, I use a 3/0 extra-wide-gap on 3.5" tubes and 4/0 on 4" baits. I just bought some 3.5" Yum ribbed tubes which are thin-walled but have a wider profile, and I plan to use 4/0 on them.

Re: Hook Size and Utility Specifics
For tubes and senkos, I like the EWG hooks(3/0 for tubes) and (5/0 for senkos). For the drop shot, Octopus hook 1/0. For lizards- a 2/0-3/0 J-Bend. ;D
