Do spinner baits really work?? How about buzzbaits? I have a fishing game on the computer, and in the game these work awesome. And i see the pro's using spinner baits. But i am only 16, right now i am in school, but right after school i am going fishing, i am not the best at fishing but i love it. just on monday i caught a 16.5 large mouth bass out of a small farm pond. But i was just wondering if i should go out and buy one or not! dont have alot of money, so i dont want to waste it, but if it works i am willing to spend the money!!!!!
Thanx!! |

They sure do. The biggest bass I have caught came on a spinnerbait. Caught a bunch on buzzbaits, too. They are both good baits to have in your arsenal.

I won't hit the water without spinnerbaits. Especially chartruese with willow leaf blades.

Not only do spinnerbaits catch fish,on a bad cast they will make the flowerpots on the ends of the docks look like someone took a weedeater to them as you retrieve your ill guided spinnerbait mid flight, before it hits and gets wedged in between the dock boards. ;D P N J

if you're new to fishing and money is tight, how bout a bag of worms or jerk baits instead of a spinner. After all, a bag of worms or or jerk baits will have between 5-12 lures per bag instead of just one spinner bait, granted you buy extra hooks as well. Soft plastics, in my opinion, are easy to catch fish on for a novice. A spinner is more likely to need the right conditions to provoke the bite, wear as worms and jerk baits are hard for a fish to resist.

the spinnerbait is the most used bait I have...although I have been in a ton of tournament where the angler has given up trying to figure the bass out(zip, nada, no tails in the live well) and they end up throwing the blade all day to kill time.
I like to use that spinnerbait as many dif. ways as possible and my fav presentation is to flip with it up close and work it over fallen trees.. once ya feel the limb let it go over and then fall before you reel again 8) |

Burn it just under the surface, slow roll it(retrieve just fast enough to turn the blades), yo-yo it-there really isn't a wrong way to fish it. Just vary the retrieve and let the fish tell you what they want.
