Re: Rock Bass
Where are you from? I grew up in TN and what I grew up calling rock bass are what some people call stripers.
If it is true rock bass, then try a small crawdad on a jighead. I used to catch rock bass with the little crawdads that are put out for catching pan fish. They tore them up when I would jig it around them. |

Re: Rock Bass
If you mean a real "rock bass" (one of these)
and not a "Rockfish" or a striper, (one of these) then I've always caught them on the same things I'd use for any kind of panfish. Â*Small crankbaits, spinners, worms, etc. |

4" or smaller lizards or creatrure type baits. The stinking lil fella's always eat my 6" lizards, so just downsize, and use smaller hooks. If you really want to catch them(I use them for jugging bait) Then just get some worms. Lizards |

Re: Rock Bass
It seems that rockies will take any lure of any size. However, on those occasions when I've targeted them, I used a 1/16 jighead with a small split tail or curly tail grub.
For those current or former New Yorkers, rockies used to run into Sodus Bay in big numbers during the late spring and I used to head out there to go after them, but it's been many years since my last trip. |

Re: Rock Bass
if your talking about the small rock bass that look loke a bream you usuelly just catch them on small panfish lures.my favorite bait to fish for them with is wax worms i think they work100% better than regular worms or nightcrawlers
