Re: best line for baitcasters?
line...like i said before...there may be a ''best'' line :-/ but if your a baitcaster pro i woulda thought you knew ??? ;D cant help ya with it...i actually think there might not be...cause in clear water(as i dont see it that nessacery) but most like light clear line.....then if you fish muddy water with alot of cover that line wont due....so maybe there isnt a best line...on spinning i like powerpro..

Re: best line for baitcasters?
Welcome to the forum!
It really depends on how you will be fishing. For applications that depend on feel I use 50 lb PowerPro braid-same diameter as 12 lb mono but no stretch and is extremely durable and sensitive. For other applications like spinnerbaits and crankbaits I use 12 lb green Trilene XL. I've also got a couple rods spooled with flourocarbon line. Regarding Ironsilk it is by far the worst line I ever used. I lost lures, fish, and it broke if you looked at it wrong. Now, that said, it has been a couple of years since I tried it and they may have improved it, but I'm not willing to try it again. |

Re: best line for baitcasters?
I like the cajun reed by shakespeare and also stren. You don't get very many backlashes with em

Re: best line for bait casters?
As with any line your thumb dictates most of the backlash problems, even when switching brands it make take some adjustments on brakes or your thumb to get used to it...I still backlash a few loops all the time, I just get in the habit of pulling line out if i am flipping..
I tend to get more after I have had the wind to my back and then change directions and go to wards the wind, or also just throwing it too hard for the weight of the lure. If you watch closely on tv most of the anglers let out a few feet of line when they feel a loop or to on the spool after each cast, its no biggie, but necessary when you make the next strong cast with those "un attended " to loops of backlash you have reeled over, it tends to create a bigger mess the next cast. |

Re: best line for baitcasters?
Any type monofilament line should suffice. Make sure it's of a quality co. If it were me, I'd go with Stren clear blue in 12 lb test.

Re: best line for baitcasters?
If you get cajun red get cast, lightining sucks for both baitcasters and spinning reels. I like Trilene XL, and P-line although its pretty expensive. Havent used braid but I'm gonna try to get my hands on some power pro.

Re: best line for baitcasters?
Trilene XT or Spiderline xxx, but like the XT more. Braid is for tying your boat to the dock, it hurts my castability!
