I've got a couple Shimano Crucials for drop shotting, one 6'8" and the other 7'2". They are great rods, and when I broke one I got an over the counter exchange at Cabelas. (not the rod's fault) The 6'8" has a lot less backbone but is great for smaller weights, the longer one is good for 1/2 oz.+. I lost very few fish with these rods last year.
I started with the Woo Daves rod too, I have the 7'4" casting and that thing is heavy as a rock. Just got another ds rod last week too, I have to wait til next spring to try it though. |

Any medium or medium lite rod will do. I use a a Shimano Clarus M 6'6" 6-12 line test which is the same specs as most other manufactures ML. The rod has more then enough backbone to set the hook. If I'm planning on drop shotting in more then 12-15 FOW I'll opt for a Shimano Clarus MH or All Star M. Both have the same exact specs.

I'm like bender and have the 7'2" M Crucial. Great rod and can feel everthing. I also use it for wacky rigged worms.

I also have the 7'2" M Crucial dropshot rod. Great rod, light and sensitive. Perfect rod for dropshotting.

The best buy is at Wacky Worm, they have a Tica that's a dead ringer for a Loomis and under a hundered. Everyone I know that's bought one loves it. JMHO bigbasser

Lamiglas certified Pro Drop Shot Special, I or II. It's so awesome, it's not even fair for the fish.
