Can't Catch any Bass
I live in Northern Ohio and there is a small local pond down the road from my house, and there is a lot of bass in the pond but I don't know how to catch them? If anybody has any suggestions or tips, please let me know!! ???
P.S. The pond is mostly dirt/rock bottom with very little vegetation. Please Help!!! |

Re: Can't Catch any Bass
Ryan, based just on that description I would try a couple of different tnings. The first would be a crawfish colored crankbait that will run deep enough to dig into the bottom. If it is digging up the bottom it will resemble a crawfish. The second is a Carolina rig with a creature bait like a Zoom Brush hog. It will also kick up a mud trail like a crawfish. With not much cover you will want something to attract their attention rather than something they can ambush from cover. If you are not familiar with a Carolina rig, post back and I'll get you a couple of links that will show it to you.

Re: Can't Catch any Bass
Rebbs right on! Is the pond clear at all? the fish might see you comming! Don't laugh it's true. Cast on 45* angles this might help, as you walk castf urther out before they see you comming. Another tip is try not to cast a shadow on the water stay out of the sunlight when land fishing a shadow will spook the fish! they think a large predator t be above them and it will care them into cover.

Re: Can't Catch any Bass
Or you could just by some Magnum Weights, pretty sweet for c-rigging.

Re: Can't Catch any Bass
Fishing from boat or shore? I fish from shore a lot and in addition to the above suggestions, don't rule out Texas-rigged soft plastics (worms, lizards, tubes, etc.), jigs, spinnerbaits and topwaters during low light periods.
If you're right about being a lot of bass there, it's inevitable that you'll start catching if you put in your time. |
