I fish this lake about 1/2 wide and about 10 ft deep at the most. There is a lot of weeds until about 5-7 ft out. In the holes i can see some goodsized bass chillin. Almost everytime i drag something in there they either dont want it or swim away. What is the best lure for the bass chillin in the holes?

In the old days they would have told ya a Johnsons Silver minnow, its a spoon that goes right above holes like you said.
I think you could cast a worm past the hole and reel back over it and let it sink, thats a good pattern, or any crankbait that only goes under the surface by inches, like manns minus one,, or a buzzbait or top water or a frog the sinking worm or craw would me my first techinque 8) |

I'd walk around it making cast kinda parallel and see what depth the fish are, they may surprise you and be right at the bank in reeds or grass and not even be out in the middle where you may be casting,
I'd walk if your not trespassing around that pond the whole time you are fishig and find what end they are in. Some days they are huggin the bank, other days they are spread out or deep. Think about wher they could be in shade and cast there if the opportunity presents itself |

Try a wacky rig. Â*Take a straight-tailed worm and hook it right through the center with no weight, like this:
![]() Cast it out, let it sink, and work it with gentle twitches of the rod tip. Yes, this goofy looking setup really catches fish ;D |

Does that hook have a certain name for its style and what brand do you favor?
I can't remember the style hook that is, I know its similar to the old bait holder hooks |

JB, I had been using an offset shank worm hook, but I got some Gamakatsu finesse wide gap hooks today, and I think that is what is shown.

Beer, but check to see if baiting is allowed in your State. Also I found that a credit card impaled on a 6/0 circle hook and 80 lb braid line on a flipping stick will haul the scrappiest females in. Remember to reel down and the circle hook will set itself, Do not try to set the hook like you normally would. The thought of using ear plugs will be automatic as soon as you start catching any amount of females, again check your State on limit and size restrictions in your area.Good fishing, ;D P N J

Nope you can stick yor ol hook in the middle and watch the wackiness begin lol
I would tend to think a worm with straight ends would be the choice, verses a auger tail, but then again you'll never know unless you experiment, plus you may get onto something in your area that no one has used or seen ,and more important the bass haven't seen 8) |

a VISA witha largemouth bass picture in the corner gets the women moist everytime..
BASS offered that visa card back in the 80's for a low interest rate and I had it for years until some other bank bought them out and raised the rate to 18%... thats when I switched cards lol ![]() |
