Re: Help In choosing Crankbaits!
Ratltrap, You should try the bass pro shop clunn ETI crankbait.I am not sure how but I beleive they catch more fish than anything I have previously used.A bomber fat A would be my second choice for stained water. P N J

Re: Help In choosing Crankbaits!
I fish mostly in clear water and will share my experiences with you on this water type.
I really like Bandit 100 Cranks in a Craw color, but many other colors are effective, as well. I do not like Norman or Strike King (just my opinion) Mann's Sub- is a great clear water crank as you can "rip it at high speeds. I like a ghost color on this brand. A Storm Sub Wart is a great choice, as well.....it is much similar to the Mann's, although Storm has a tremendous shad color. Hope this helps. Catch em up Brian |

Re: Help In choosing Crankbaits!
I've been using crankbaits for many years, though I'm certainly no expert. But dozens upon dozens of brands work well and you aren't gonna buy them all.
I'd pick a couple of brand names that you're familiar with and try a couple that will cover the depth that you will be fishing. I'd go with rattling baits for the dirty water, and although they also work in clear water, I'd try some non-rattling, such as original Rapala Shad Raps. I'd stick with some basic colors like shad, firetiger, crawfish, chartreuse and chrome. |

Re: Help In choosing Crankbaits!
Chip makes the best ones I have found. Get a wide wobbler like the 4.5" diver for stained and muddy water. These are plastic and have rattles. Try Blueplate or Parrot in stained, and Parrot in Muddy.
For clear, go with his C-Bait or Deep C. These are wooden and have a very tight wiggle.Try natural colors like bluegill. JMO. Charles |

if you take that monkey with you,you WILL buy them all [/quote] Some of us ancient old fossils were accompanied by the bait monkey for many years, but gained some will power with the passing of the years, and were able to shed the monkey (sort of). |

Re: Help In choosing Crankbaits!
RatLTrap,
Everyone is going to have their own opinions on crankbaits. Everybody that throws a crankbait is going to have a favorite and least favorite. I really only started throwing them about 3 years ago and got really "hooked" on Strike King series 3 - ghost. I also like Bandit series 200 in firetiger. Those are my 2 go to c-baits. It's all in personal preference. You can pick those up for $3-4 a piece - buy a few different types and experiment - I'd recommend doing that when your out fishing - experimenting in the backyard pool when the kids are swimming makes the misses a little upset ;D. -Bob |
