Strike King Buzzbaits
Is a red strike king buzzbait a good buzzbait or not. If it is how do you work it, and what kind of water do ya fish it in, and when?

I only use one color buzzbait and thats silver blade and white skirt, or chartruse combo...but any buzzbait you can throw past the target and while reeling it back back give it a sharp thrust for about 10 inches,, that rips the water and throws a dif sound plus bubbles, many times aggravating them to strike

Sure it'll work. Percentage-wise, best time is warm water (maybe 55+?), shallower water and lower light, like dawn, dusk and cloudy days. Cast it out and start the retrieve before it hits the water so it doesn't have a chance to sink and starts working as soon as it hits. Vary your speeds; some people like to retrieve it as slow as they can and still keep it on the surface. My personal preference is to always use a trailer hook.

Hey Tom-I've been looking at those cavitron baits. Any size or color you'd recommend?

the only advantage i've seen to the Cavitron is that you can fish them so slow. I prefer to fish one fast myself. I still like the Retriever Barkers myself.

Re: Strike King Buzzbaits
the only reason i use a strike king buzz bait is well i like the 1/8 oz mini buzzer during the summer the fishing pressure is quite heavy they get used to seeing a big buzz bait thumping by chuck a mini they will grab it . the mini is so small that i can get away with out using a trailer hook.
booger man makes and excellant buzz bait i use 3/8oz white or black with trailer hook zooker

Re: Strike King Buzzbaits
I caught my biggest bass last year on the White bleeding buzzbait. I bought another one incase i lost it. I've used the newer one but it doesnt catch nearly as many fish.. The reason... it's b/c it squeaks and the new one doesnt.

Re: Strike King Buzzbaits
You can make that new one squeak if you want it to. Â*One way is to take a pair of pliers and crimp that metal stopper at the bottom of the blade so it doesn't turn with the blade, which in turn will cause a squeaking sound form the metal rubbing together. Â*
Another way to get it is to tie the buzzbait on and let it hang out the window of your truck while driving down the road. Â*That will break it in and it should be squeaking by the time you get to the lake. Â*Oh yeah, when I say hang it out the window, I mean put the rod tip out the window with the buzzbait reeled up to it. Â*Not by hanging 5 feet of line out the window. I have actually seen them tied to antennas before. |
