It's Back...It's Better
IT'S THE NEW COLOR-C-LECTOR Sometime back there was a discussion about the old Color_C-Lector that Dr. Loren Hill invented. This morning I got my latest issue of "Bassin" magazine, and there on page 59 was an advertisement the Dr Hill had joined forces with Spike-It to bring out the "New and Improved" selector. For more info, go to www.ispikeit.com It slices, it dices, it juleannes, I know that every tacklebox is not complete without it. Order yours today!!! JackL |

Re: It's Back...It's Better
I'll get two. That way I'll have twice as much use for it as I had for it last time.

It's also in the new 2005 Bass Pro Shops catalog. It retails for $89.99.

Re: It's Back...It's Better
I first heard of the color-c-lector from a book Jimmy Houston wrote. But it was litmus paper if I remember correctly. Im with cajun unless one of the trusted members on this site can endorse it, till then I will just have to guess.

Re: It's Back...It's Better
P.T. Barnum said it best. "There is a sucker born every minute".
I had one the firt time around. I won't say it didn't work. I will say it was no better than guessing. The problem with it was, and I figured this out after fooling with it a bit was that let's say you drop the probe down to 5 feet. Ok. You get a reading for five feet. However if you drop the probe down to 6 feet, you get a completely different reading. Since the lake/river bottom is not a uniform depth, (or very seldom is) you still don't know which color the fish can see best at the point where it sees your bait. Here you're back to guessing. So I guess I'll save my 90 bucks. |

Re: It's Back...It's Better
JackL, I still got the original color c-lector. I ain't ever used it , but do you remember the mood rings ?If you could combine the two together to get a compact color c-lector ring I would buy one of those too. ;D P N J

Re: It's Back...It's Better
I too had one about 12 years ago. I guess it took a while for it to dawn on me that I could have made about 50 casts in the same amount of time that it took me to unpack it, unroll the cord and fumble around with it trying to understand what this gizmo was telling me!

Re: It's Back...It's Better
I still have one of the originals, but since I very seldom fish crankbaits, the color-C-lector part is of no use except to select jig colors for crappie fishing. The thing I used mine for the most was that it gave me the PH break line, which was useful and could not be determined by even 100 casts. JackL |
