what i am looking for is a basic handbook for beginner anglers.i'd like to find something maybe like a basic intro to fishing. once i get them roped into the club,i'll start brainwashing them with bass fishing ;D. jk,i really do need some help finding a book like this.thanks..good fishing |

Hey Tom did you check with your DNR? I know here in Illinois they have alot of youth programs for hunting and fishing. They used to have literature they gave away. Most of it was pamphlets and small booklets but it still covered the basics as well as ethics.

Tom I think your best line to gain info will be with the local fish and game or a federal agency. Plead your case, they may send you tons of stuff. 8)

I imagine B.A.S.S. would send you info, they're all about preserving the sport for future.Pure Fishing(Berkley) also has info, they usually put out a beginners book every year in places like Wal-Mart(for free)..I'll see what else I can dig up for ya...

Re: beginner fisherman's book
tom call Ranger, Berkely, stren, and see if you have a local tackle company. Kids are very attached to brand names at that age. The big manufacturers know this and most will be willing to donate items especially for a kids event. Let me know if i can be of any help. .......................Scott R

Re: beginner fisherman's book
One thing you can do is to hold somewhat of a little contest. Tell the kids to go the library and read up on fishing as musch as they can. Then do somewhat of an oral quiz, giving them prizes as they tell you what they have learned.
It doesn't have to be something expensive, you could give them bobbers, or hooks and stuff like that. I think they would really get into knowing they are getting some fishing gear to start them out. |
