You can fit a jon in the back of the truck, but you need to tie it down good and put a red marker on the back. It would be better if you have a very large truck and a very small jon boat, maybe 10 foot.

A company makes "basshunter" boats. They come in two sizes 8' and 9'. I have used the 9' and you can slide it into the bed of a short bed pick up. Weighs like 100 lbs. Costs appx. 300-400 $.

Me and my Navy buddies use a Jon boat to fish. We have a 9 footer and it slides in a little S-10 or little Fronteir. Just ratchet it in and hit the road.

You can carry a 14 foot jon boat in the back of a full sized pickup it you tie it in good. Â*A red flag or red light may or may not be required but it's a good idea. Â*And of course the boat has to be narrow enough to fit between the fender wells of the bed. Â*Most full sized pickups have an 8 foot bed, and with the tailgate down, they have another 2 feet or so of support, so 14 feet isn't too bad. Â*I have seen 16 footers in the back of trucks, but that's a bit much.

They'll ride better if you put the stern in first.
