Default just returned home from florida

hey everyone, just returned home from florida and i was kinda dissapointed. i only fished for three days but the first day i fished a 40 acre lake behind our hotel in clermont florida and couldnt buy a bite. the second day i only was able to fish about two and ahalf ours at lake tarpon, i caught a 3.1 pd bass and one that broke a little over 1 pd and that was it. the third day i fished apopka lake and another lake right down the road and only caught one little one.
i am assuming the reason for not catching great numbers of fish is because i was trying to bank fish, and due to the great number of cattails weeds and gators surrounding the banks it mad bank fishing extremely hard next time i will be fishing from a boat.
but besides not catching great numbers of fish i was able to enjoy alot of floridas wildlife,

Don't feel bad, I was in Florida 2 weeks ago and only caught a bunch of dinks. Its really off now. Nobody else was fishing, they all knew how bad it was.

I've fished lake Tarpon several times, and our best fishing there was always when fishing weedbeds well offshore. I've caught a few near shore, but the deeper weedbeds were always the hot spots for us. Maybe try that next time if you can. I think the marina there rents boats.

This is by far the worst time of year to bass fish florida. You can catch 'em wherever you can find cooler water right now, meaning holes, springs, nasty weed forests, and nightime. I don't even hardly bother bass fishin from the end of June till about september....There out there though....Next time you're down, give me a shout and I'll try to help you some...

Ohio,

Your best bet for bank fishing in Florida in the summer are the small retention ponds in almost all the residential areas. Cast parallel to the shore and you can load up on 'em. Of course this depends on the pond.

In most of the lakes, the fish are keying on offshore structure and weedbeds from 7 feet dropping to anywhere from 12 to 30 feet (depending on the lake).

Hope this helps next time your in Florida in the summer. P.S.- The summer last through October
